As development of telecommunication technologies, the transmission capacity has been able to meet the richer upper service need. Among the many value-added service, the remote multimedia conference not only be consistent with customer's needs, but also take full advantage of the broadband network. At the same time, the current communication services are in the trends of intelligence and on-demand development. Semantic Web as an extension of the current web, is key technology to achieve the next generation of Internet, it can realize semantic interoperability and network intelligence. The SOA technology as an IT architectural style is loosely coupled and reusable. It brings about revolutionary change for modern software systems. How to combine the SOA and Semantic Web technologies into the current multimedia conference service is a brand new research topic.In this paper, we propose a SOA-based multimedia conferencing system in which involved ontology reasoning during the program. Under the structure, we designed two types of multimedia conferencing scenarios. One is conference notification, the meeting creator enters the basic conference information, and process would automatically select the appropriate way to notify the participants according to the contexts of conference time and contact information. The other one is speaking process during conference, the system would select right participants to speak according to their priority. In the system, various types of telecommunications services have been encapsulated as web services and deployed in the ESB, and through the BPEL technology to invoke different communication web service so that two large conference scenarios can be completed.In additional to SOA, the system has also tried the technology of ontology reasoning. First we create completed multimedia conference ontology by Protege, and then the relevant rules were designed according to service logic, at last we used two kinds of reasoning machines to deduct the context information. During ontology reasoning, the mass of redundant data would be produced and low down the efficiency of deduction, in this paper we designed a partitioning algorithm based on breadth-first algorithm with multi-context information, it can be successfully cut off the redundant part of the large ontology and to ensure the validity of reasoning at the same time.Finally, the paper shows the implementation of two business processes and corresponding results with analysis. We also proposed the further amendments of current system which combined two kinds of technology in the multimedia conferencing system, and give a vision of future work and application of directions.
