As the integration between mobile communications and broadband wireless access technology, the trend of broadband mobile communications has become more and more evident. Based on the awareness of broadband mobile communications,3GPP started the LTE (Long Term Evolution) project. It greatly improves the capacity of air interface and can provide high-quality wireless access services depending on the advanced technology. For example, OFDM, MIMO, all IP network and so on.The system of LTE can provide better services to users. But it should provide high-speed data rate under conditions of limited power and bandwidth. It is a challenge. Therefore, the key problem we faced is how to better deploy and configure the system. The common method is to simulate the actual environment and get the reasonable planning scheme.Firstly, we study the technical specifications of the LTE system, network architecture and other key technologies. The key indicators include date rate, delay, bandwidth and so on. The network structure includes access network and air protocol stack. We also study the technologies of physical layer and MAC layer, such as modulation, MIMO, resource scheduling, QoS and so on.Secondly, we research the thesis of system-level simulation method in cellular system. It mainly includes dynamic system simulation and static system simulation. After detailed analysis these methods, we research the interface of system-level simulation and link-level simulation.Based on all the work, we research the system-level simulation models of LTE and build the system-level simulation platform using MATLAB. It includes residential and user models, propagation model, scheduling model, adaptive link model and so on. After that, we study the throughput of LTE, scheduling algorithm, and so on. The simulation results show a valuable guide to the development and deployment of LTE.
