As the third generation mobile communication system was deployed, the increasingly user demand for system performance prompt the Organization for Standardization to launch on technical evolution. 3GPP (Third Generation Partnership Project) launched LTE (Long Term Evolution) project, whose system performance get a huge boost by adopting the key technologies such as OFDM(orthogonal frequency division multiplexing),MIMO(Multi-Input Multi-Output) and link adaptive technology. In order to meet the requirements of ITU (International Telecommunication Union) IMT-Advanced (International Mobile Telecommunications-Advanced,referred to as "IMT-A"),3GPP launched LTE-Advanced(referred to as "LTE-A")as its 4G(Fourth Generation) candidate standard proposal, which is smoothly evolution based on LTE and featured by some advanced technologies. The topic of this paper derives from "Eleventh Five-Year" Plan key projects of National Science and Technology—"IMT-Advanced technology programs research and key technology development"which is in charge of China Academy of Telecommunication Research of the Ministry of Information Industry. The project aimed at design and implementation of LTE/LTE-A system-level simulation platform according to the IMT-A standardized framework, and evaluation of its key technology to promote IMT-A technical proposal evaluation and LTE-A standardized process. The thesis is mainly comprised by three parts. The first section outlines the LTE/LTE-A principle and the system simulation methodology. In the second section,a LTE/LTE-A uplink system level simulation platform is designed and constructed. The presented simulation platform is used to investigate the efficiency of 3GPP LTE standard on performance of several key techniques. The three section focus on the research of some key technologies. Firstly, a fractional power control method in LTE system is proposed. The impact on interference control of the suggested scheme is examined, and the parameter is optimized by simulation. Secondly, an uplink multi-user virtual MIMO scheme and its performance are analyzed compared to single-user system. At last, a semi-persistent scheduling scheme for VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) is researched. Its ability to decrease downlink signaling overhead and maintain high system capacity is concluded from the simulation results.
