3GPP LTE(Long Term Evolution) is the evolution of 3G standards, which can be used to improve the 3G air interface performance, due to the adoption of several advanced wireless communications technologies such as OFDM,MIMO,All-IP-network etc.LTE,the prime candidate for 3G wireless network evolutions, could provide the peak rate of downlink 100Mbit/s uplink and 50Mbit/s in the 20MHz bandwidth spectrum. The major telecom operators on the world, such as Vodafone, NTT,DoCoMo,AT&T,Verizon etc, have decided to adopt the LTE technology. In addition,China Mobile and China Telecom have also claimed to promote the development of LTE technology vigorously.Since mobile network operators hope to verify the system performance of the suggested LTE schemes, major domestic and foreign communication equipment makers have been putting in a lot of manpower and resource to carry out the LTE system simulation,pre-testing and pre-research in order to get upper hand in the communications development of the post -3G era. This thesis is presented to investigate the efficiency of 3GPP LTE standard on performance of several core techniques by using MATLAB-based simulation in system level. The primary contributions are as follows.(1) LTE dynamic system simulation platform is designed and constructed based on the system simulation methodology. The presented simulation platform consists of several modules including serving cell modeling, communication channel generation, link self-adaptivity,HARQ,handover,ere,which can be used to evaluate the system throughput, interference level, transmission format,cell-edge user transmission power, etc.(2) A scheme for power control in LTE system is proposed. The efficiency of the suggested scheme is examined by using simulations.(3) Scheduling algorithm was designed for optimization in LTE system. An Improved proportional fairness algorithm is re-designed to enhance cell-edge performance while keeping the overall throughput. (4) A fractional frequency reuse scheme is designed for implementation of Intercell interference coordination.Simulations are conducted to examine the effectiveness of the presented scheme.
