Recently, road information was collected mainly by manpower, which can not manage facilities efficiently because of inefficiency and isolation of collected information. Vehicle-mounted Road Comprehensive Information Acquisition System based on GIS and digital video technology was designed, that is on the basis of fully research and analysis about road information acquisition system at home and abroad, and we can acquire information fast and automatically in this way.Paper basically studied on the technical key about collecting, processing and storing of road information, such as geographical position of road facilities, road environment and pavement condition. At first, the paper introduces system's working principle, hardware constitution, design and realization of the collecting system. And the system also designed a mile instrument based on the rotary increment photoelectric encoder, which can acquire the speed and mile automatically. Besides, whether the multiple signals can be sampled synchronously is also an important question, to this question, the system put forward the key research that use photoelectric encoder pulse to trigger comprehensive information collecting on the road. Further more, it combined video to get key mile frames for mile correction, which improve the accuracy of the data effectively. In addition, the paper also link the linear CCD pavement image and GPR simulated profile data to detect road surface and roadbed roundly, improving highway maintenance and management level effectively.Vehicle-mounted Road Comprehensive Information Acquisition System has been carried out in highway scene. The system realized the mass data information acquisition, storage, correction and display, and also interlink the geographical data information, road surroundings video,road surface images and parameters description together. So this system can provide an effective technical means for road asset information management, road infrastructure and road performance evaluation, as well as road accident scene guide, which enhance road infrastructure maintenance and management level effectively.
