With the development of China's economic, the high energy consumption problem of urban large public buildings has become more and more serious. Large public building is a place which wastes energy seriously, it has a huge saving space of the energy. Realizing the data's real-time acquisition of building energy consumption, accurate transmission and rational processing can provide the support of basic data for building energy conservation system. It has extraordinary significance for large public building energy management and saving.Data Acquisition Gateway is a combination of data acquisition equipment and communication gateway, which provides a powerful support for real-time collection and accuracy transmission of large public building energy consumption data. Building Energy Data Acquisition Gateway is the kernel of Building Energy Data Monitor System, and it is used for managing data acquisition networks, reading energy data from metering devices and transmiting data to data centers.In this paper, we studied Embedded Building Energy Data Acquisition Gateway's design and realization. The work was relying on the implementation of national large public building energy consumption data monitoring system projects in Chongqing. The paper used a UML-based embedded system design methodology. Through a phased modeling, the method finally described data acquisition gateway system structure clearly visually by utilizing various UML graph. The design of the Data Acquisition Gateway system used the Linux + ARM9 software and the hardware structure. ARM9 core microprocessor, S3C2410X, was used for the kernel of embedded data acquisition gateway hardware system. The paper analyzed the hardware design. Then, the paper designed the software framework model of the Data Acquisition Gateway by using UML-based methodology. Moreover, the paper explained the detailed design of program modules.The configurable ability of the Data Acquisition Gateway is another research focus of the paper. The paper accomplished the research on energy consumption data acquisition and data processing. After studying the XML-based device description and XSLT-based data processing method we have achieved the purpose that the metering device information and data processing methods are dynamically added to the system. Therefore, the specific needs of the data acquisition and data processing do not have to static bind in the code of the program, which can enhance the flexibility of the gateway system.During the realization stage, embedded Linux operating system, U-boot bootloader program, root file system and the PPP protocl was transplanted to the Embedded Data Acquisition Gateway, and it constructed the application program running platform of the Data Acquisition Gateway system successfully. Data acquisition, data processing and data upload are the three main module of the Data Acquisition Gateway's application program. The paper explained the implementation function of the three main module, as the same time, it also described the major development techniques: serial port operation, Socket programming, XSLT processing, and Web page development.
