As a unique knowledge organization form, online communities of practice face the problem that how to attract people who are interested in the topic of the communities to take part in and actively participate in the activities of the communities to create the value in the development process. Current research on this issue is still relatively small. This paper tries to analyze the issue from the perspective of Web2.0 in order to make a more focused solution.Firstly, the paper defines the concept of online communities of practice. And then the key factors hinder the development of online communities of practice are analyzed from the perspective of information dissemination, and the difficulties are revealedthe. Next, this paper attempts to study the development of online communities of practice from the point of Web2.0, because the new media forms emerged in the Web2.0 environment provide more convenient communication tools for the members of online communities of practice, and will have a profound impact on their communication behavior. Particularly, a striking contrast has formed between the users' behavior in the Web2.0 environment and the difficulties that online communities of practice faces. Therefore, the paper makes an in-depth analysis for the participatory culture and collective intelligence, and then draws some useful insights for the development of online communities of practice. Some targeted recommendations are mentioned in the conclusion. At the end, the earlier proposed strategy are analyzed in detail with a typical case, and the direction of future research are discussed.
