Along with mobile electron produce market growth rapid as well as high speed 3G network large-scale constructions. With the personal digital assistant (PDA), PocketPC and mobile phone as a representative of mobile equipment grew in popularity. Now many traditional calculation of computer application are constantly transferred to the mobile device, and the emergence of new applications and services are increasingly at the beginning of design will consider the requirements of the mobile platform application. Currently, the mobile equipment of the 3D function is mostly based on ARM chip, and based on the image processing software. However, with the increase of electronic equipment display screen and geometric model has become more complex, the software method not only take up a lot of CPU resources, increase the CPU burden, lower the rending quality, and difficult to achieve real-time rending of 3D graphics display. The resource in mobile device associated with the rending is quite limited, s like the CPU frequency is low, the storage space is small, the screen is limited as well as battery power supply ability is weak. Aiming at these problems, must use special hardware circuit of mobile equipment 3D graphics processing system. The system enables real-time rending complex graphics, with low power and low-bandwidth characteristics.For the urgent needs of the realistic 3D graphics system on mobile devices, combined with low-power low-bandwidth mobile devices characteristics, this paper will research the hardware implementation of raster phase for mobile devices.The main works and the characteristics of this thesis are as follows:(1) According to the computing characteristics of realistic 3D graphics system, the paper analysis and research in the structure and work processes of 3D graphics processor, establish complete 3D raster processor architecture which including a programmable triangle set up engine for mobile device. The architecture uses fixed-point data path and an effective fixed-point algorithm to process triangle vertex data, which can reduce the circuit complexity, lower power consumption.(2) The programmable triangle setup engine according to computational characteristics and custom instruction set which allow users achieve a variety of raster algorithms flexibility. Using three-way SIMD processor architecture, 8-stage pipeline, can effectively improve the throughput. To ensure the computation accuracy the engine also has a high accuracy special function unit.(3) The paper builds a SOPC of FPGA verification platform to implement and verify raster processor for mobile devices. Test results show that the processor cans real-time rending the raster part.Although the graphics processing technology is relatively mature, but the high technical barriers in this field and almost all of core technology masted in the United States and other developed countries. The research of graphics processing chip and system is in a leading level on abroad, but the vast majority of the papers open to the public only brief introduced system architecture. Domestic research and design of the graphics hardware rarely, some only for certain specific application background, do not have the versatility. So it will be more urgent requirements on mobile devices with limited resources to rending realistic 3D graphics.
