The quality of infrared image can't be improved too much because of many limit conditions. One of the problems is that the gray values of most normal objects are intensely distributed among some gray levels, which makes the effective details of objects lost and identifyed difficultly. In the paper, an effective method to improve the performance of infrared image is proposed, which is based on the in-depth research about the feather of infrared image. A DSP+CPLD configuration is applied to achieve high-speed real-time digital process for infrared image. The hardware design of infrared signal process is achieved. The CPLD chip plays a role of controlling the system worked orderly, and the DSP achieves operation of arithmetic. This design utilizes the agile configure of CPLD and the strong mathematics operation ability of DSP. The DSP and CPLD can show their strongpoint in this configuration to process digital image real-timely. The software project idea of the system is brought forward and the programs for CPLD module and DSP module are developed both.
