| The 21st century has witnessed a rapid development of the society and economy, and also the great losses of lives and treasure in serious natural disasters caused by global warming, which is the negative consequence of the fast development. It has received a lot of attention from all nations. China experienced a series of severe natural disasters in the year 2008, during which the"5.12"Wenchuan Earthquake was an extraordinary one. This earthquake was not only a great test and challenge to China's Emergency Administration System, but also a wake-up call to us. Radio and television is a very important constituent of the social public service system. With the recent development and advances of radio and television technologies, most departments and experts pay attention to the upgrading value of the industry, instead of the development and application of its social public service function with the radio and television being the media. Based on the case study of"5.12"Wenchuan Earthquake, this thesis does some evaluations and analyses to the current situation and problems of China's radio and television system in the response to natural disasters. Meanwhile, it analyzes and draws lessons from the successful experiences of Japanese radio and television system in response to natural disasters. This thesis suggests that we should fully develop the social public service function of radio and television. It systematically demonstrates that China should establish and consummate the radio and television system and mechanism in need of emergency control to natural disasters based on Chinese conditions and put it in spread and application from such aspects as education for disaster prevention to citizens, disaster early warning, emergency reports, citizens'mental crisis intervention, etc, with the aim of providing certain references to the responses of China's radio and television system to other public emergencies. |
