Online collaboration editing system can fulfill the internet users'needs of audio & video applications with strong interactivity, and enrich the applications on the new generation of high reliability network. It's an online multi-media platform based on internet and browser technology. This article describes the environment of online collaboration editing system based on cluster computing, which is the main part of"Distributed Broadband Editing System with Collaboration Environment"from 863 project.This article is mainly focused on the design of online collaboration editing system based on technology of multi-media on internet. The system uses nonlinear editing tools, which are built on FLEX framework, to provide traditional NLE functions, and meanwhile, it provides creative mode of collaboration editing for multiple users as well. And the system takes advantage of cluster computing technology to provide several applications such as transcoding, program rendering and comic rendering at the back end. The system also provides large scale of distributed storage system to guarantee the safety of data in the system. In the article, a solution for the whole system has been provided by means of analyzing the system needs. The system is functioned by combining both server side functions and web client tools. The article analyzes the designing rules of several sub-systems such as web portal, cluster transcoding system and web client tools, and the working principle and implementation details of the sub-systems, as well as the flow-chats of the system, are introduced.This article also describes the solution of two cluster transcoding systems, and provides the list of factors which affects the system efficiency by the testing results. Through the testing data we can find that the chunk size and numbers, as well as the number of transcoding nodes will affect the system efficiency evidently. Also, the implementation details and FLV format are discussed in the article.At the end of this article, the general solution for the online editing system is summed-up, and the ability of expanding of the system is also discussed.
