With the continuous deepening of physics education research, how to improve students ability to solve problems is hot spots in physics education research.Successful learning of physics requires students to acquire not only the content knowledge of physics, but also the skills to solve problems using this knowledge. But many students'skills to solve physics problem, especially complex physics problem, are poor. When faced a complex physics problem, they can't finish the solution. To address this problem I developed a intelligent tutoring system for physics problem solving, called Multiply Representation Based Physics Problem Solving Tutoring System:MR-PPSTS.First,this thsis conducted a detailed analysis of the status quo.lt is concluded that the essence of problem solving in physics is the translation of representation.Physical problems are divided into simple and complex problems. The translation of simple problem's representation is easy, whereas the translation of complex problem's representation is beset with difficulties.Because the working memory capacity limits is low, problem solver must depend on the External media in solving complex physics problem. The MR-PPSTS consist of several modules, including the main module:automated problem solving module-PSM,problem solving wizard module-PSW,and the diagram tool. MR-PPSTS is developed using the Java programming language, which can solve mechanical difficulty problem of college entrance examination level.
