With the wide use of embedded system, it becomes a popularity to connect the embedded devices to Internet. And it is the most natural and practical choice to control and monitor embedded devices remotely using web technology. Remote monitor and control based on embedded web technology provides effective ways for the networking and miniaturizing of monitoring system. It is the latest developing direction for realizing net controlled at industry spot field. In this paper, a remote intelligent monitoring and diagnosis system was designed and implemented which is suitable for unattended television transmitter.The system introduced in this article includes multiple functions such as environment parameter monitoring and measuring, equipment control, intelligent alarm, fault diagnosis and so on. It is consisted of monitoring sites, embedded device server, fault diagnosis system and remote monitoring console. Detailed researches are made on the key technology of remote monitoring and diagnosis by using embedded device server. The main content can be divided into two parts as follows.(1)The architecture and software structure of a remote monitoring and diagnosis system for television transmitters based on embedded web technology is put forward first. Then the principle arid the development techniques of the CGI and serial communicate components based on device server are discussed. Finally, the advantages were analyzed to design client based on XML, and a concrete method to realize dynamic data exchange between the supervisory computer and the embedded web server with CGI and XML techniques is proposed for solving the resource-constrained problem in the device server.(2)On the basis of monitoring console mentioned above, In order to achieve the function of fault diagnosis for television transmitters, the theory of fault tree and fuzzy mathematics are presented. An analysis method based on fuzzy binary fault tree is applied to the transmitter fault diagnosis system. A knowledge base and fuzzy inference engine which based on the expression of diagnostic rules were studied and designed. On a conclusion, a remote diagnose function for television transmitters is implemented.Good considerations are taken in the limitation of the embedded system resource and the facility of the client software updating, CGI is adopted on device server for respond the request of client and XML technology is used on client for implement dynamic data exchange. The system has the characters of credibility, facility and extension. From the view of practical application, remote monitoring and diagnosis of the working states for television transmitters is realized, and a reference solution is proposed for the design and implementation of remote monitoring and diagnosis system.
