Research On The Paradigm Of Library Science In China Based On Author Co-citation And Meta Analysis

Since Kuhn's classic《The Structure of Scientific Revolution》came out , the word "paradigm" is one of concepts often discussed among all disciplines. And since chinese scholars Qiu Chang and Huang Xin used paradigm theory to determine the developmental stages of Library science in China for the first time,the domestic academic libraries are also engaged in discussions of the paradigm of Library science. The conclusions are various. However, most scholars have tried to study the paradigm of library science in China from their own research perspectives,or their own research methods, such as literature method and historical research methods. And so,their conclusions are different.To solve the above problem, the author tries to reveal the intellectual structure, knowledge map, genres of library science in China and each characteristics based on empirical research methods of the bibliometric methodology and multivariate statistical analysis and use visual analysis method to show the relationships between the genres. On that basis, the author concludes the comprehensive characteristics and some paradigms of Library science in China.The author first determines the 108 key authors of library science in China on the basis of the study of our domestic scholars,and then acquires the co-citation frequency to form the matrix from CNKI.Then,applying the factor analysis,cluster analysis and multidimensional scaling analysis,the author draws the knowledge map and recognizes the five genres of library science in China,there are: Theory of Library and Library Science, Library Development, Information Resource Management, Theory of Bibliography and Philology, Document Indexing and Cataloguing.In addition, this paper explores the characteristics of the genres from three perspectives :Research subject, Research Question and Research hot topic.Final,based on the above research conclusions,this article sums up 4 paradigms of library science in China,there are: theory construction paradigm,cultutal paradigm,technical paradigm and the paradigm of information resources.
