Study On Citation Identity And Citation Image

At present,most of the researches of citation are about the citations,the authors cited,citees and their works.but there is less concern on the citers.especially from the citers to study the citees.In 2001,an expert in the field of information science.Professor Howard D.White from the college of information science and technology of Drexel University,puts forward a new method of the authors assess-citation identity.A citation identity is the set of authors that an author cites.Citation identity studies the references of an author's article and is useful to evaluate an author or a journal.But the basic theory of citation identity lacks breakthrough progress:the relevant research is on the trend of repeatability.Author's citation identity and citation image is new important research field in citation analysis theory.It includes identity-creators and image-makers.This paper tries to build basic theory of citation identity and citation image.explore the core-and-scatter distribution presented by identity-creators and image-makers based on CSSCI,conduct empirical analysis on citation identity and citation image,main contents are as follows:The first part is the introduction,mainly including the background and basis,the aim and research significance,the research situation.the research content and ideas,the research methods and innovation.and briefly expounds the main content and the frame of the paper.The second part is the overview of citation analysis theory,including the basic concept of citation analysis,distribution,the self-cited analysis,citation network and cluster analysis,the new theories and methods,etc.Through the review,this paper represents the concerns:ego-centered citation studies.The third part is the theoretical system of the citation identity and citation image.This paper introduces the concept of citation identity and citation image with an individual author.refines the characteristics,makes comparison with the traditional authors cited analysis:From the narrow and broad sense,this paper introduces the concept of journal citation identity and journal citation image,gives the journal citation indexes based on journal citation identity and image;then defines the concept of research institutions citation identity and research institutions citation image,analyzes its features and practical value;finally,sums up the research angles of citation identity and citation image.The fourth part is empirical analysis of citation identity and citation image with individual author.This paper conducts an empirical analysis over twenty well-known library and information scholars' citation identities and images,with special focus on the distribution of citation identity and image,the authors' citing styles,the usage of foreign bibliographies,and the influence from library and information science to other subjects.Finally comparative analysis of citation identity and image is done.The fifth part is empirical analysis of journal citation identity and journal citation image.This paper analyses 18 LIS journals' citation identity and citation image,based on data from CSSCI 2009.Conclusions include:first.journal citation identity indicators including reference count,reference count per article,percentage of English references,self-citing rate,extension of references,citing half life,journal concentration factor,and average JIF of citation identities,are not applicable to the evaluation of journal impact,second,journal citation identity and journal citation image reveals journals' characteristics of content,journals' usage of foreign and cross-disciplinary bibliographies,even the development of disciplines.Finally comparative analysis of journal citation identity and image is done.The sixth part is empirical analysis of research institutions citation identity and research institutions citation image.This paper takes Wuhan university research center for China science evaluation for an example,analyzes it from four aspects.Firstly,this paper describes its situation related to academic research,including literature category,publication year,source journals,discipline distributing;then analyzes its citation identity and citation image;Finally,comparative analysis of research institutions citation identity.research institutions citation image and research collaboration is done.The seventh part is the conclusion.The research conclusion and main contributions is summarized,the limitation is pointed out,the idea and thinking for follow-up work is put forward.
