In the era of knowledge economy, more and more attention is being paid on the importance and value of knowledge. Meanwhile, the rapid growth of knowledge, the isomerism of knowledge resources and other problems has brought many challenges to information services.Among the various knowledge resources, digital literature resource is an important way for science and technology researchers to publish or get the latest knowledge and research dynamic, an important carrier of knowledge. The organization, utilization and service of digital resources, is an important part of knowledge services. The improvement of quality of digital resources service is one of the keys to enhance the overall level of knowledge service. But the traditional mode of organization and service of digital resources is a bit single, it only provides simple retrieval. With the development of ontology technology and its extensive application, in recent years, concepts and methods of ontology technology have been applied into retrieval of digital resources. However, there are few researches which carry out semantic annotation and aggregation with the combination of informetric relation and semantic relation. This study would fill this gap; it is going to construct ontology and knowledge repository system based on the combination of the two angles above.Adhering to the principle of "combining theory and practise", this paper carries out the study of discipline knowledge repository construction based on compound ontology, from the aspects of theoretical exploration, propose and construction of compound ontology, designing and construction of discipline knowledge repository, and practical study. In addition to the introduction, conclusion and prospect, this paper can be divided into other five parts, each part is a chapter:The first part (Chapter1) systematically described the basical theories. Firstly, in order to select the proper method, route and technology of compound ontology construction, the connotation and role of ontology, the most used tools, languages, principals, methods of ontology constructions, and the reuse of ontologies are compared. Secondly, the types and formal expression of knowledge, role of knowledge repository, the differences and similarities between knowledge repository and database are analyzed. Lastly, on the basis of above, the relationship between ontology and knowledge repository, the role of ontology in knowledge repository, the key problems, technologies and process of knowledge repository construction based on ontology are discussed. The second part (Chapter2) carried out the research on compound ontology from the two aspects of theory and construction. Firstly, this chapter proposed the concept of compound ontology, elaborated the goal, necessity, feasibility of building compound ontology, and compared the differences and similarities of compound ontology and traditional ontologies. From the two angles of informetric and semantic, compound ontology uses informatrical methods and semantical relations between concepts to reveal digital resources, it is the basis to carry out resource aggregation from the two angles. Then, according to the characteristics and needs of compound ontoloty, the tools and language are selected; the route and process of construction are designed. Finally, the construction from the angle of informetrics is completed. Basic elements of the compound ontology include classes and instances, attributes and values, constraints and inference rules. The third part (Chapter3) completes the analysis of the knowledge repository based on compound ontology. Firstly, the goals and main users of the knowledge repository are defined, the principals are proposed according to the goals. Consequently, the basic functions and service functions are analyzed; lastly, the types of knowledge are defined, and characteristics of each type are compared. The fourth part (Chapter4) completes the designing of the knowledge repository based on compound ontology. Firstly, the overall frame of the knowledge repository system is designed, it includes three layers, resource layer, logical analysis layer and application layer, and modules of each layer are defined. Then, the three key problesms in construction, knowledge expression, knowledge acquisition and knowledge utilization are dissolved. The process of dissolving these problems is firstly analyze the goal of knowledge repository and characteristics of knowledge in it, then select appropriate method and technology, and define the model, program and route at last. This part laid the foundation of practical building of knowledge repository. The fifth part (Chapter5) completed the practical construction of the knowledge repository. This chapter begins with the selecting of subject and corpus according to situation and needs. Geomatics has been selected as the experimental subjects. Then, by reusing the existing domain ontology, the construction of geomatics compound ontology from semantic angle, and the adjunction of examples from informetric angle are finished. Finally, the whole construction of geomatics knowledge repository is completed, and it has been validated through application. The results proved that the geomatics knowledge repository based on geomatics compound ontology has basically achieved their objectives and functions. This dissertation is one of the achievements and components of the project named "Semantic-based Deep Integration and Visualization of Library Resources"(Code NO:11&ZD152), which is granted by the major program of National Social Science Foundation of China.
