With the environment of mass media dissemination constantly changing, our country's entertainment programs are becoming more and more popular with the audience. However, the development of the cultural-oriented and academic-oriented television reading program is worsening, which forms a sharp contrast with the high ratings of the overseas. The reasons for it are worth further investigating.The research on television reading program at home is one-sided and superficial, lacking in-depth investigation. Therefore, the paper is undertaken to make a detailed analysis of it. First of all, the paper briefly introduces the reasons and features of television reading program in our country. It is of particular significance for the audience and media. However, the development of our country's television reading program, for diverse reasons, is unoptimistic, facing many problems and contradictions. Thus, the paper analyzes the present situation from the perspectives of television, the audience, and the social scholars, respectively. And then the effects are elaborated from the angles of television, the audience, the social scholars, defining the significance of the television reading program. The reasons for its slow development, as well as the present situation and the effects of the television reading program, are elaborated from the perspectives of the program itself, the media, the audience and the society. And then some relevant measures are also formulated. If it wants to make its own brand, it must make breakthrough. And the media, the audience, the social environment should also take it seriously, in an attempt to make it unique in the media-competitive time and win the affection of more audiences.
