In optical fiber communication system, the expansion of transmission capacity, the increasing of transmission speeds , the extension of transmission distance are closely related with the fiber loss, nonlinear effects and dispersion effects .With the emergence of erbium-doped fiber amplifier and its wide application ,fiber loss has been resolved basically, then optical fiber dispersion and nonlinear effect of optical fiber has become the current factor of restriction of optical signal transmission rate and distance in communication system. As the fiber dispersion can effectively suppress the nonlinear effects of four-wave mixing and so on , the key of the expansion of the upgrading of optical fiber in communication system will focus on the dispersion, and in high-speed, ultra long-distance high-capacity optical fiber communication system , the only effective dispersion compensation can meet the requirements of communications systems for further transmission. This paper focuses on comparison of application and compensation methods of dispersion in a chirped fiber grating in high-speed optical fiber communication system, the main works are as follows:Firstly, according to characteristics of single-mode fiber, the principle of dispersion compensation in high-speed optical fiber communication system and the effects of dispersion on optical fiber communication systems are analyzed.Secondly, the mechanism, technology and programs of chirped fiber grating chromatic dispersion compensation are analyzed and further analyzed from the perspective of the system performance. Finally, the algorithms of rear compensation, pre-compensation and mixed compensation are designed by using chirped fiber grating, according to the chromatic dispersion problem in high speed optical transmission systems. Mixed compensation has the best compensation comparing to rear compensation and pre-compensation by the simulation results of non-relay transmission of G.652 fiber single-channel 10Gbit / s and 40Gbit / s of 320km.
