In 21th century, war is an information countermeasure by the lead of electronic warfare and radar counter reconnaissance is playing an important role in modern electronic war.Electronic warfare has already throughout the whole process of the war. As an important part of Electronic warfare, Electronic reconnaissance is mainly used to intercept, identification and locating the enemy's electromagnetic signals of electronic equipments, obtaining strategic and tactical intelligence, in order to further support the military action. In the increasing emphasis on hidden under the trend of attack, active detection technology gradually revealed itself concealment, higher intercepted rate weakness.Passive localization system plays an important role in the electronic reconnaissance,as it works silently without electronagnetic radiation and covering larger region.Passive locating technique has broad application prospect.This paper introduces the characteristics of passive locating methods, development, and the existing problems, and then two kinds of common mode, and the improved method are put forward:For passive cross location method is proposed, using two satisfactorily signal, and then use the separation between two stations signal emitter remove the false positioning method, Using a communications recon for actual detection equipment fixed sources of data processing, the feasibility and effectiveness of this method was verified.For airborne ESM adopted in the system of passive location, the algorithms of EKF and MGEKF which involve DOA and its rate of change are adopted respectively aimed at the two states of the emitter are fixed and moving, and location accuracy and velocity are all improved evidently.Finally an analysis for passive location capability of ESM system is taken.To location error brought by variant posture of the scout, a method of value processing of rotating matrix is adopted to control the location error. To the influence of system error, a method of difference value processing is applied, which makes the system error disappear during dynamic processing.
