Human Care Embodied In Disaster News Reports

Incarnating humanity caring is the inner demand of the news reporting, and it is required that more of it should be applied to the reporting of the disasters. In this paper, the developments and changes are analyzed showing the transformation of the disaster reporting. The research is devoted on the concrete presentation of the Wenchuan earthquake reporting, pointing out the progress and deficiencies in the disaster reporting.On Wenchuan earthquake occurring, many media went to the spot in the shortest time, adopting many reporting forms to take an all dimensional, multi-angle, transparent reporting, and the excellent reporting deeds won high opinion from all the people in China and media from abroad. And the reporting showed more emphasis on human life and especially the living condition of disadvantaged group by all-direction reporting pattern, concerning more about timeliness; all this are the embodiment of humanity caring. In addition, the reporting took civilian narrative and from the direction of human spirit, showing the ultimate value of humanity caring.In the meantime, humanity caring deficiencies do exist in certain disaster reporting practice. The researcher holds that, it is a good way to solve this by improving the reporting practitioners'quality and upgrading the sense of credibility and the social responsibility of media. Besides, the society should build a suitable atmosphere for media which unifies the economic benefits, self-development and humanity caring. Only by this could the scientific and rational humanity caring come to show its real spirit, and the media could not achieve its social responsibility and get its social value to ensure long-run development without this.
