Remote environmental monitoring has important practical significance in the prevention of natural disaster and the environmental quality control. A kind of reasonable monitoring method can not only improve the efficiency and accuracy of monitoring, but also greatly reduce the labor intensity of staff. This paper presents a new remote environmental monitoring system based on wireless sensor network and CDMA. The system can well meet the low-power, low-cost requirement.This paper first analyzes the technical characteristics of wireless sensor network and CDMA, and then proposes a multi-level networking solution for environmental monitoring. On discussing the feasibility of the solution, the overall structure of the system and function modules are introduced. The system uses CC2430 radio transceiver chip to build short-range wireless network, and uses wireless modem Q2438F to realize CDMA communication. Upon the completion of hardware platform of the monitoring system, Zigbee protocol stack is configured, the communication protocols are specified and the application programs are designed.The remote environmental monitoring system proposed in this paper can collect and transmit environmental data dynamically, it has the characteristics of small size, low power consumption and easy to maintain. The implementation of this system has great value on the development of remote environmental monitoring.
