After the 4th World Women Conference in 1995, the topic about " women and the medium" caught a lot of attention from many domestic researchers. To be an emerging and non-mainstream research area, it overlapped among communication study, sociology and feminism. Compared with overseas, studies on this area were later nearly 20 years. Therefore, this new topic has still lacked of those theories which concerned with "the gender and the medium".In the research area about the gender and the medium, studies on the female images in media-text, feminist media and female journalists were paid the most highly attention by researchers. Especially the former two which became more and more mature and acquired so many achievements. Research on female journalists were quite limited by comparison with the rest. To be directed against this problem, I'll place my attention on the quantitative research about the topic of "female journalists" from the visual angle of the social gender. It has been always leaded by male person when the mass media was born, and few female journalists in this area. With the rapid development of the society, Women's Movement in the West and feminism got an impetus to the female status. Their traditional role has changed a lot as well as the News area, which called "male area". More and more women set foot in News area, and their representation are very excellent. But it is unavoidable that the female social gender inferiority still exits in this field. I use the method of sample-survey to analyze the present situation of female journalists in Changsha and found that the gender inferiority concerned into three aspects:social gender stereotypes, "aphasic" of female journalists and the plight of female journalists'dual role. Female journalists usually encounter those psychological plight because of the ingrained traditional patriarchal opinion. The patriarchal social system rooted in everywhere for thousands of years and it has become intact and systematic, so it is too hard to change the status easily. To be aimed at resolving this question, I attempt to put forward countermeasures about it.It is quite a relief that our country has provided very large development space which includes politics, economy and culture for women, and enacted lots of rules to protect their right. It has built a good environment for them, and contribute to help women obtain the self-fulfillment as well as the development of the media and the society.
