In the early 20th century, China was trapped by a complicated situation with difficulty both home and abroad. In the home, people began to revolt while the imperialist powers are stepping up with their aggression against China. Facing with such a situation, the declined Qing dynasty, did nothing to make a change but intensified exploitation of the people and even betray the country to seek glory from the imperialist powers. Such practice aroused resistance of some people with ambition and literacy. They began to attack in many ways, and the newspaper became one of the most convenient and most offensive power means. The People's Independence Journal was born with such background."People's Independence Journal" existed only three years, but it still was the most affected and the best-selling Revolution Newspaper in the country. It promoted the occurrence and development of the 1911 Revolution, therefore, an In-depth study about The People's Independence Journal it is of a great importance with a historic value and practical significance.Quantitative and qualitative methods are both used in this paper on the basis of mastering a large number of historical documents and data. Taking The People's Independence Journal as an case to make research about the reasons that the newspaper became the horn of the 1911 Revolution, then made in-depth analysis of the comments and summarized how it sounded the 1911 Revolution. On this basis, the author tried to make a historical location of The People's Independence Journal. In particular, the paper includes the following contents:Chapter One introduces the origin of my thesis, on the basis of combing almost all the researches on The People's Independence Journal and finding out some questions about them. This thesis described my research methods and originality.Chapter Two summarizes the background information about the foundation of The People's Independence Journal, introduced the gist and nature of the newspaper, and analyzes its newspaper groups.Chapter Three analyzes the content of The People's Independence Journal to probe into its language characteristics. By the method of combining the quantitative approach and the qualitative approach, this paper tries to make a comprehensive analysis of the reasons for its success that why it became the best seller, the largest and most influential one of the newspapers during the 1911 Revolution.Chapter four contains a research of the propaganda strategy of The People's Independence Journal and explores the communication skills used by the newspaper to make the revolution horn louder.After the empirical studies mentioned above, Chapter Five is my conclusion about The People's Independence Journal on its historical status and influence.People's Independence Journal, a newspaper founded by the bourgeoisie, represents the interests of the bourgeoisie. It rises and falls with the rise and decline of bourgeois revolutionary strength. When the Wuchang Uprising broke out, the newspaper reached a peak of its sale, but when the Second Revolution failed, it immediately disappeared. It is undoubtedly that The People's Independence Journal was a microcosm of the domestic affairs happened a few years after the 1911 Revolution. The historical data it recorded now provides invaluable assets to researchers on Chinese modern history and Chinese journalism history. Therefore, The People's Independence Journal should have a place in Chinese modern history and Chinese journalism history.
