Along with the recent rise of e-commerce, Web Services have become the effective solution for e-commerce. Web Services have efficiently solved the interoperability and intercommunication problem amongst heterogeneous systems within or across enterprises. Nowadays Web Services already become the mainstream technology for Web-based application paradigm and distributed computing. Nevertheless, the UDDI-based discovery of Web Services relies only on keywords, lacking the ability of executing search with information described by various semantics. By introducing semantic Web to Web Services to form Semantic Web Services, it is able to conduct Web Services search by matching semantics of published Web Services. Compared with traditional keyword-based match, searching Web Services by semantics better meets the potential needs of users. With the adoption of OWL-sdescription language as the logic description tool for Web Services, this thesis has designed a Semantic Web Services publishing and discovery system which implements semantics-based Web Services publishing and searching. Based on traditional single Web Service parameter semantics matching, this thesis proposed a novel matching strategy for Web Services. Aspects involved with Web Service match include:1.matching based on service categories; 2.matching based on number of service parameters; 3. matching based on semantics of input and output parameters. Finally the application scenario of semantics-enabled Web Services publishing and discovery system has been demonstrated.Main works within this thesis include:1. the proposal and implementation of semantic Web Services searching and matching system; 2. the proposal and implementation of a novel matching strategy based on Web Services semantics; 3. the application of the newly designed Web Services matching system and strategy.
