As infrastructure and systems supporting Web Service are getting into nature, more and more organizations begin to integrate Web Service as part of their business processes. They call for new workflow system to support Web Service integration and functionality of traditional workflow systems to be extended. However, problems, such as Web Service discovery, quality of services management of autonomous Web Service, and semantic integration of heterogeneous Web Service, need to be solved in web-service-enabled workflow systems.Semantic Web and Web Service are the tow important trends which are emerging in the World Wide Web (WWW). The confluence of Web Service and the Semantic Web gives birth to another new technology—Semantic Web Service. The Semantic Web Service markup language can be used to describe the semantics of Web Web Service and make them computer-interpretable entities, so as to enable programs or agent to locate, invoke and compose Web Service sutomatically. In this paper, an effective Web Service discovery approach based on the semantic is proposed to solve this problem; it claims that service discovery should be based on semantic matching between a declarative description of the service being sought and a description of the service being offered. The traditional Web Service description language, i.e. WSDL, lacks of semantics, and a new language, i.e. OWL-S is used as the description language of Semantic Web Service which can describe Web Service with semantic information. The most important step of Web Service discovery is the matching approach. The proposed approach is a three-metric matching approach. The three metrics include text matching, capability matching and parameter matching. Each metric compares the matching degree between the reuirement and the advertisement according to one kind of Web Service character. This matching approach and the designed ranking schema can help Web Service requesters to find suitable services. With the help of the proposed ontology-based approach, we can measure a Web Service matching degree to a given request and determine the rank in which the advertisement matches the request. Finally, we apply this matching approach into field of internet-book and develop a maching system of Semantic Web Service which is proved effective through our experiment.
