During recent years, for P2P can solve server bottleneck problems in the streaming media transmission, and effectively promote the transmission ability,it is widely used in the new media operation, and becomes one of the key technologies of streaming media transmission. In precondition of making the best use of numerous node resource and disposal abilities, how we can guarantee the transmission quality of streaming media systems and transmission speed becomes the hotspot in the field of streaming media technology research. This paper based on in-depth discussing of the current P2P network and streaming media technology, presents a P2P streaming media transport mechanism based on Polling. Compared with the traditional C/S mode and non-Polling (polling) mechanism, this mechanism allows the download speed of each user in P2P streaming media system to speed up with increasing in the number of participants in the system, makes every Serving Peer system performance requirements and dependence reduced with the increase in the number of participants. At the same time, the paper also proposes a memory management method in the P2P streaming media system:ring buffer model (20 polling cycle),and three algorithms: Catch-up algorithm, elimination algorithm and synchronization algorithm, which effectively guarantees the transmission quality of streaming media systems and transmission speed, to achieve smooth playback of streaming media. In this paper, a programming-based Polling of P2P media streaming systems is realized by programming; a preliminary testing is done to the system, and analysis and summary are given to the test results.
