This thesis first introduces the basic knowledge concerning seismic attributes, as well as its research and development all around the world. In studying displaying seismic attributes, the traditional approach is to plot a certain seismic attribute on a single seismic section plot. Among the commonly used display technologies, wiggle trace display shows clear that the features of the dynamics of elastic waves are fully reflected, but intuition of ups and downs of interface is poor. Variable area can clearly show the interface geometry and moreover, it gives a strong intuition, but it has a disadvantage in depicting the features of the dynamics. Although variable density also gives an intuitive interface to reflect changes of geometry, yet it is not as clearly as variable area in stratification. By integrating the above three display methods, the combination way not only gives intuitive interface, but also highlights the features of the dynamics. However, when dealing with complex geological structure, the traditional ways of interpretation seems powerless in multiple attributes oriented characteristic interpretation, especially the frequency attributes. The RGB color theory based multi-attributes seismic section display technique works well on displaying multi-attributes just in a single plot, which makes the geophysicists easier to carry out comprehensive analysis over several attributes. By subtly mapping the lower, middle and higher frequencies to red, green and blue colors of the three basic color of the RGB color model, the RGB based seismic section display skill delineates a fusion of multiple attributes within one single seismic plot. After time-frequency analysis that transfer the seismic data from time domain to frequency domain, three RGB basis functions are defined and least-squares solutions are used to match the three basic functions to the amplitude spectrum at each time location which is decomposed by spectral decomposition methods. As a result, three attributes with regard to frequencies are extracted from seismic data. The three attributes are assigned to. red, green and blue color components, which are mixed together to be a seismic plot, the RGB based multi-attributes seismic plot. In this way, the attributes represented by red, green and blue components of the RGB color model are apt to observe, as well as analyze. Exploiting the RGB based multi-attributes trick to seismic interpretation, one can to some extent improve the efficiency and accuracy of the interpretation work.In the end, a summary is concluded by reviewing all the display techniques mentioned in this paper, and my own suggestions are proposed as well.
