The Principle of the Cross-hole seismic measurement was proposed to mark the location form and the range of the mineral by the Cross-hole seismic measurement result. In recent years, this technique has gradually be applied to oil-gas exploration field. The method has been developed after the research passion in 1980's and the initial application in 1990's.The resolution range of the Cross-hole seismic is from tens of centimeters to certain meters, which is just among the sound wave logging, VSP and the surface seismic. And it provides enough materials for describing the non-homogeneity of the reservoir. So it is a very useful method for the lithology analysis, reservoir description and oilfield exploit.In this paper, the operation principle of "the Acquisition Device of Cross-hole Seismic Imaging System", an important research project of "Nine-five-year" Plan of CNPC, is introduced. This system interpretes the requisition analysis, function model and data model of the surface master computer's software system based on Object-oriented technology. It is believed that this device will bring petroleum seismic exploration field into a new application future.Cross-hole seismic software system is writed by Visual C++ 6.0 on Windows 98. It's primary function is to control under-hole acquisition device and to data processing % display > storage these acquired datas. The software system introduce the graphic interface surface that is popular international.In the practical seismic exploration, as the seismic datas is generally a great amount of data, which are acquired at the remote areas or offshores, are needed to transmit to the inland and be analysed or proceeded, so it is very vital to compress these seismic exploration datas.As the real-time acquired and processing age, the researcher have developed the data compression method based on Wavelet Transform. But most of research only devote to the compression of the non-seismic data. Comparing with the generic data compression, the compression of the seismic exploration data have it's own characteristic. And it's remarkable specialty is to limit the missing of the physics. information or signal characteristic, especially the high-frequently information. These information that can be used to adjust the subsurface structure and hydrocarbon reservoir are very important.In this paper, according to the characteristic of the seismic data, we'll discuss that these raw data acquired by the practical Cross-hole seismic exploration is compressed by Wavelet Transform. As a result, the compression rate is up to above 10:1 and minority of energy is missed. Therefore, a quantity of storage medium may not only be reduced but the useful cross-hole seismic during the successive procession may be avoided to be missed.
