With the development of water conservancy construction in our country, Dam Safety Monitoring is getting more and more concern. Most of the existing dam monitoring systems are wire monitor system. This system has many problems to solve, such as measuring points can not be selected casually, distributions are not flexible, wiring projects are complicated, line circuits distributions parameters affect the measurement accuracy,and the system is difficult to prevent thunder and mouse, yet difficult to maintain line circuits. The research of Dam Safety Monitoring System can solve all kinds of problems brought by wire system.A dam safety monitorring system based on wireless sensor network is proposed in this thesis. Taking seepage pressure monitoring for instance, the sensor network technology is selected to establish a net network topological structure and with GPRS technique, to realize the remote data transmission. This system has characteristics of high credibility in data transmission,easy maintain,low cost, flexible network topology.By analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of all sorts of seepage pressure sensors, vibrating wire seepage pressure sensor has a higher stability and ant-noise capability. In this thesis, vibrating wire seepage pressure sensor is chosen as the seepage pressure sensor and the principle, installation, data processing have been descripted in details.By comparing several common power supply methods, the solar power supply is selected as the power supply of seepage pressure node. This plan is a self-supply system which is flexible to set up, environmental-friendly, and can work properly regardless of the limitation of utility power. ZigBee wireless communication technology is selected as the seepage pressure node communication method. This method has the characteristic of short translation distance,low power,low speed,low cost.The exploitation of program can be builted on the existing ZigBee protocol which can reduce the difficulty and cycle of program exploitation to a large degree.In the hardware design of seepage pressure nodes, the following modules are mainly included:wireless communication module, power supply module, sensor module, serial communication module, remote data transmission module, memory module, display module. Besides, some simulation works and some debug works on the hardware are conducted.In the software design of seepage pressure nodes, application layer programs are written, based on ZigBee protocol stack, so as to realize the nodes'functions, including data collection, data processing, data transmission, net building, route choosing. In addition, we apot winsock technology to design sublayer communication programme,and it reals the communication with coordination.At the same time,we also apot configuration technology to design the dam seepage pressure monitoring programme.It reals the function of displaying measuring data and settting romate parameter.
