With the social development, women's social status has also been greatly improved .The differences in social behavior are getting smaller and smaller between men and women. We could see women's presence in a growing number of areas and they got excellent results. The conception of "gender equality" has been taken into our country in the last century and this promoted the laws and regulations of gender equality been taken out. But in real life, the "male superiority" and the ideology that "men control the outside world and women are better to stay at home "are still survive in people's minds and potentially impact on people's behavior.In response to this contradictory reality, how was the media's reflect?As a reflection of reality, how was the mass media to build real-life image of women? Another approach is diametrically opposite that media reports often show the process of traditional female roles which caused single and stereotyped image.The second chapter will divided the women involved in news texts into five stages according to their age: babygirls , girls, youth, middle-aged and older. And then makes a summary of the characters of the image of women of all ages. After an analysis of gender roles and gender temperament of the women, the author found that there are indeed stereotyped patterns tendency in shaping the image of women in the social news of Chongqing Times.Then there is a summary of concrete manifestation of prejudice in shaping the image of women in social news of Chongqing Times. The specific performances are as followed: promote the traditional family model, neglect the double pressure of women; make a judgement from women's appearance, ignoring their own ability to work; pursue adventures blindly, lack of humane care; misreading of female students; shirk its responsibility, take women as selling points.In order to truly reflect the situation, the author also choose some news from Southern Metropolitan News and found that even in the coastal areas where opened earlier and the audience are higher educated , Southern Metropolitan News also exists the phenomenon of gender discrimination. Then Chongqing Times is not surprising that a similar situation.Finally, the author concludes that there are differences between the image of women in social news of Chongqing Times and the real situation. And there truly exists of gender stereotypes . There are patterns of features in the image of women of all ages. After deep analysis of the reasons for shaping the image of such women, the paper concludes by discussing how the media should be gender balanced reporting to make contributions as responsible media.
