In the field of gender and media studies, the content research showed that most of the media disseminated gender stereotype. The reason for this is due to the reality of differences between sex, the traditional social customs , the restriction of women in political and economic fields, the male-dominated culture in media, the difficulties female-media-workers faced and which made them keeping silence. All of these intensify the stereotype. The media gender stereotypes will effect the social construction of gender, so that the gender equality will become unable to achieve.According to current research, the image of women in news of domestic newspapers is still lack of systematic survey. This thesis is based on content analysis. We randomly sampled 30 issues of each seven newspapers- "China Daily", "Bright Daily", "China Youth Daily", "Jiangxi Daily", "Information Daily", "New & Fast Daily" and "Beijing Evening Paper". Through the limited condition and ability, the purpose of the research is to summarize the image of women in Chinese newspaper. The results are: men appear far more frequently than women in the newspapers; women's identity are focused on daily routine life, thus the image of ordinary, be led and marginalized have been shaped; the "beautiful" appearances are the main descriptions of women in every fields; the sentimental side of women's emotion have been emphasized. At the same time, the discourse right of women have been restricted in different degrees.
