With the continuous development of science and technology and people's living standards gradually improved, remote monitoring system is widely being used in scientific experiments, safety, health and medical fields. More common of remote monitoring system use PC and video capture card to realize. It's not only bulky and expensive, but also difficult to achieve long-range and multi-point real-time monitoring. This paper develops remote monitoring system based on ARM and Linux. It not only implements remote video surveillance, remote terminal switching device control, and voice alarm function, but also reduces system size and lower system cost, making the system more suited to remote monitoring system applications.Main research work of each chapter is outlined as following:Chapter II describes the overall design of remote monitoring systems and related hardware and software technologies.First introduced the concept of remote monitoring system, described the working principle and key technologies. Then shows hardware technology in the system, which mainly introduces the mini2440 development board, relay module, PTZ control module and USB camera module. Finally explained the system related software technology, including BootLoader, embedded Linux operating system and application software.Chapter III describes the remote monitoring system hardware and software design and implementation. On the one hand describes hardware connection of the various modules in the system, mainly including remote switch control module, PTZ control module, USB camera module, audio processing module and network module. On the other hand describes software design and implementation in the system, mainly including U-boot code analysis and migration, Linux kernel porting and customization, Boa transplants and configuration, Madplay and Servfox transplants, PTZ and switching element control procedures written.Chapter IV introduces hardware and software system integration and functional test in the remote monitoring system.Firstly, it builds the hardware block diagram of the system, and gives the hardware physical map. Secondly, it designs software block diagram, and completes the flow chart. In the end, it takes a test for the system function modules.
