Today, reactive power compensation and harmonic elimination are the effective solution of improving power quality and purifying power grid environment. In all kinds of Var compensation devices, because of cost and performance advantages, thyristor Controlled Reactor+Fixed Capacitor (TCR+FC) type Static Var Compensator (SVC) has been widely used. TCR+FC type SVC can compensate reactive power and eliminate harmonic current. It is this paper's problem how to use fixed compensating capacity in order to gain the best filtering effect.This paper analyzes the structure and basic principle of TCR+FC type SVC, the harmonic of TCR is analysed emphatically. Combining the design methods of Power Passive Filter (PPF) and selection methods of power capacitor parameters, paper gives the principles and designing steps of SVC system filter. According to these principles and steps and some experience of engineering design and basing on VB environment, the software platform of parameter design and analysis of SVC filter is developed. Under given conditions, this software platform can quickly and reasonably scheme out the structure and parameter of SVC filter, and can gain filtering effect which can be displayed in the bar charts. Using this software platform, the amount of SVC design work can be greatly diminished, the designing time of SVC can be shortened, and the research cost can be reduced.Using the simulation model on MATLAB/SIMULINK, this paper analyzes three methods of the filter compensation capacity assignment on simulation, which exist widely in engineering practice. Under setting conditions, the best method can be obtained. For the feature of TCR harmonic current, the maximum of which vary with different firing delay angle, paper designs the structure and parameter of SVC filter, and analyzes the filtering effect. Then, the best parameters of SVC filter can be obtained under setting conditions. The results of simulation and analysis show that the filtering effect of SVC filter can be improved after considering the assignment methods of compensation capacity and the feature of TCR harmonic current.In this paper, the main circuit device of TCR+FC type SVC analog system is developed. With three working conditions of heavy-load, balance heavy-load and unbalance light-load, the design method and analysis method of SVC filter is proved. The experiment results show that after considering TCR harmonic current, the filtering effect of SVC filter has been markedly improved.'...
