The thesis introduces the main problems of harmonics in power system and some key techniques used in an important project of Hunan Power Company?The Development of HAPF(Hybrid Active Power Filter).First, the thesis introduces the basic concepts of harmonics, the fundamental theories of harmonic analysis and the main methods of harmonic detection. Then it introduces the sources of harmonics and the harms of harmonics, which demonstrates the necessity of harnessing harmonics. The paper also illustrates several methods of eliminating harmonics, and emphatically introduces the working principle of HAPF that have the excellent performance and good foreground. The thesis proposes two new techniques- a novel topology which greatly decreases the current scale of the PWM inverter and a method to detect a harmonic of any specific order. At last, the thesis introduces the system implementation based on DSP. The system mainly includes a 14bit high speed A/D system combined with PLL, a new method of PWM and DSP assembly programs.
