Microwave communication means that digital information transmission and regenerative relaying are realized through by using microwave in free space. As various equipment faults and communication faults happened during the microwave communication transmission networks (MCTNs) operation process bring serious negative effect on information transmission, it is necessary to manage and diagnose the information on this issue. To be concrete, it is essential to forecast the fault position, isolate the fault equipment and debug the problem for guaranteeing the normal operation of MCTNs. Therefore, network fault manage system has an important effect on promising that MCTNs can properly, efficiently and economically operate.This paper mainly concerns the practical application of network fault manage system in MCTNs, and the content can be divided into four parts listed as follows:1. Based on introducing microwave communication theory and system model, IDU, ODU and the functions of various insert plates on IDU have been introduced. Further, classify the faults happened in microwave communication system, present the detailed analysis for each potential faults and the faults origins;2. To satisfy the requirement on alarm messages automatic forwarding between MPT and IDU, MAP protocol and alarm message formats for various faults have been designed and realized;3. In allusion to the need of the alarm report automaticly, trap scheme in SNMP has been thoroughly studied for alarm reporting, and then the alarm message automatic forwarding from the agent of SNMP to Administration end has been realized by using Trap operation in SNMP;4. The designs and realizations of alarm registration, alarm message processing, and alarm message reporting and alarm display module have been accomplished.Finally, the function design and realization have been verified through operating the system. System operation results show that the proposed faults manage system can execute fault judgments and fault positioning. Moreover, these results also indicate the validity and feasibility of the proposed fault manage system.
