Nowadays, the world has entered into the age of information, the development ofinformation technology, not only improves people’s life and work efficiency, but alsochanges people’s production and life style. Electronic medical record is a veryimportant link in Chinese medical information, which is the core of the hospitalinformation system construction. XML (Extensible Markup Language) is aself-describing and semi-structured, Extensible Markup Language, which is verysuitable to describe electronic medical records such as structured data, can effectivelysolve the electronic medical records describing, storing, exchanging, etc. The CDAdocument structure is the first standard of the medical industry based on XML whichis issued by HL7organization. CDA (Clinical Document Architecture) is a type ofclinical document architecture which is in exchange for the purpose and semanticDocument mark standard, and the document which is used of the standard can be in anHL7message for transmission. CDA standards can help us build more efficient andflexible electronic medical record system based on XML technology. This paper introduces the XML technology, which makes a detailed introductionof the characteristics, advantages and related technology of XML. Meanwhile thispaper makes a deep study of HL7standards and Clinical Document Architecture. Andwith the standard data of the latest electronic medical records of Ministry of Health, this paper discusses the application of the XML technology in electronic medicalrecords systems.First of all, the existing labeling mechanism usually has two problems: bigstorage space and difficult dynamically update. This paper presents a new labelingmechanism for dynamic XML data based on prime number which is calledPDML(Prime Multistage Dynamic Labeling). The new method uses a new mechanismof the subtree domain mapping, which avoids using larger primes, has a smallerlength of average labeling. Extensive theoretic analysis and experimental results showthat this Labeling Scheme is a better one which could effectively reduce the codingstorage space, has high efficiency in query and good supporting for dynamic update ofXML data.Secondly, According to the questions of the low structured of EMR and thenon-standard of the medical record data, this article designs and realizes the electronic medical records systems based on XML.Combined with HL7, CDA and thestandard data of the latest electronic medical records of Ministry of Health, this paperproposes a CDA generation scheme which conforms to the standard data of the latestelectronic medical records of Ministry of Health, which makes electronic medicalrecord system can be convenient to information interaction. The design andimplementation of electronic medical record system success in solving the casestructured entry and the exchange of medical data; And improve the medical staffefficiency and quality of written records;support for hospital management departmentto the control of medical quality and realize the sharing of medical recordinformation;which are convenient for teaching and scientific research to provide basicdata. This system has been success online in hospital.
