For the purpose of improving the performance of table tennis bats, the design of the pimpled rubber contributes to meet the needs of athletes with different technical characteristics. In this paper, we take the pimples distribution as focus, carry out the mechanical analysis of balls during impacts on a racket surface from the mechanical point of view. The current implementation of system bases on the OpenGL Utility Library and works well to design the pips distribution and evaluate the performance of pimpled rubber.The research includes the following aspects:First of all, the definition of the performance of pimpled rubber. Nowadays the industry of table tennis bats hasn't make any standard definition about the definition of the performance of pimpled rubber. This paper attempts to determines a table tennis racket rubber's performance from the aspects of the speed,spin and control.Secondly,mapping relationship between the properties of table tennis bats and its performance. The properties of table tennis bats include the Hight, Diameter, and Density of small cylinders on pimpled rubber sheets. And thereby, we approve that when balls are in the same state of the environment, different distribution of pimpled rubber make balls under the different external force, so as to leave the racket with different flight speed and rotation speed. Thirdly, with the aid of the image sequence by High-speed camera, we demonstrate it via the comparison of the speed, and laid a good theoretical basis for the future computer-aided design and realization. Fouth,this paper analyzes the forces exerted on balls from pimpled rubber sheets with different distributions of small cylinders, and draws some conclusions which play a key role in guiding the table tennis bat manufacturers to produce different types of bats for players.In this paper, we approve the relationship between the properties of table tennis bats and its performance. The innovative application of computer graphics and image processing technologies in this paper serves to prove objectively the impact of the pips distribution on the equipment performance. The objective of the research is to lay the theoretical foundation for our technological realization of the Computer-Aided design platform, and the main focus of it consists in providing innovative solutions to the design of pips distribution for table tennis bats.
