This paper describes the development of Analyzer of returning table tennis ball. This project uses one low quality camera to analyze table tennis practicing between human and table tennis robot. This thesis focusses on developing an algorithm dealing with umpiring table tennis ball and finding type of returning table tennis ball. There are many Image processing algorithms applied in the system. Background subtraction is used to detect moving objects from the picture. Then, using HSV threshold to focus the familiar color objects. Finally, using morphological to improve the picture result. The goal of this system are developing the system which can help table tennis player is able to practice and improve their skills by themselves. The system must use only low quality camera with an algorithm then the system is able to analyze returning ball types such as far forehand, close forehand, middle, close backhand, and far backhand. Furthermore the system is able to analyze and giving the result about areas split into 3 main ranges consist of Long ball, Middle ball, and Short ball. In each range also split into 5 sections. The system is developed to run on the personal computer first. But also plan to run on an embedded computer. Python language is used to develop the system and include library of OpenCv 3.0 to deal with image processing operators. The proposed the system shows the correct result of running is more than 95%. The only problem which made an error was from the camera. The camera cannot detect the ball which moves too fast, especially at the beginning when the ball comes out from the robot. It has spin and moves fast. To solve the problem using a high frame rate camera is the simple and efficient method. The implementation is thus considered effective and the project closed successfully.
