LED display will be the most potential display technology in the areas of display. China's LED display industry has developed rapidly, and the control technology of the display has reached the international level.But there are no mature technologies in the areas of color theory and the dis-play quality. So it becomes an urgent problem.How to improve the quality of LED display is the goal in this paper. From the view of the research and development LED display in domestic and abroad nowadays, and the perspective of chromaticity, using the knowledge of color science, some common problems which LED display industry faces will be researched,and will be implemen-ted with IP core.The video processing algorithm such as de-gamma correction, color temperature correction, color gamut correction will be researched in this thesis. Especially in the reseach of color gamut correction, a more simple algorithm which can expand the ga-mut is raised first based on the aspects including improving the expression of big ga-mut and versatile of the algorithm. This algorithm has been proposed to achieve and verified, and has been applied for the patent of Intellectual Property Office of China.According to the video processing algorithms, some system modules using DSP Builder in Simulink are generated.And then the system-level modules are converted into VHDL.Then CycloneII EP2C35 in Altera Corporation is set as the core, and then the assessment and optimizating of the system modules are done based on the core. Followed, IP core of LED video processing is worked out, and the effection of video treatment and the simulation waveform are given. Especially,a method that have the a-dvantages of less utilization of hardware resources and good compatibility to implement color gamut correction is raised first,and has been applied for the patent of Intellectual Property Office of China.This design of IP core of video processing in the paper can be implemented eith-er using the pure hardware, or in NiosII soft-core system. In these cases that require higher quality of real-time and reliability, the implementionof pure hardware is deser-ved; when the IP core is needed be transplanted,the NiosII system is deserved.
