P2P technology has been widely used in various fields and has became the most effective resource sharing model in Internet for its inherent decentrality, autonomy, fault tolerance and expansiveness. From the research about applications based on P2P technology, we can see that confidentiality, authentication, integrity, and authorization should be seriously concerned in the applications built on P2P technology. In this paper, based on the famous P2P development platform—JXTA, our work mainly focuses on the following aspects:1. Firstly, we introduce the definition, characteristics, and network topology of P2P. Then, we discuss the framework of JXTA platform and analyze the protocol of JXTA and CMS. At last, we exploit the PKI technology into our scheme.2. We discuss the internal security mechanism of JXTA, and compare it with the most popular third-party encryption package. Then, in order to achieve a higher security level and easily to implement in practice, we exploit the PKI technology into file-sharing system built on JXTA.3. We design a secure file-sharing system called xidiantalk. This system can solve the security issues like confidentiality, authentication and integrity. The main contribution of this paper is that we introduce PKI technology into JXTA, so the whole system can upgrade from the simple encryption/decryption technology to a unified mechanism managed by the PKI. Meanwhile, we use the third-party secure package to maintain the security level in our file-sharing system. What is more, we can provide various algorithm and the length of the key for different users to automatically maintain the trade-off between security and efficiency.
