| This paper introduces the background and courses of ABC-CA's preparatory works and demonstrated the important role of IT system played in the preparatory of a fund management company (FMC). This summary briefly explained the different stages in construction of the IT system which including the needs analysis, system design and implementation of the project.In the stage of needs analysis, the Paper describes the principle, the goal and the structure in construction of the IT system of a fund management company (FMC). According to the domestic stipulations, a typical IT system for a FMC includes two critical parts: Fund Investment Management System (FM) and Customer Service System. The two systems support the daily operation of a FMC. Among which, the FM system mainly supports the daily transactions of securities and related risk control functions; the Customer Service System provide the calls management, client management, client service, transaction service and management of account statements.In the stage of system design, the Paper describes the works in four parts: Part 1 is the design of Fund Investment Management System, which provides a platform for the fund manager and the dealer in a FMC. The design is focus on the function, process and technical framework of the system. Part 2 is the design of Customer Service System, the design is focus on the structure, technical model, interface, business process, limits of authority, worksheet design based on the database and visit of the database; Part 3 is the design of host computer system. It mainly consist of the minicomputer for operation and test, PC server and data storage system. Part 4 is the design of network. Principle and requirement for the network design is proposed, which includes communication and information exchange equipments and a KVM system, generic cabling was also a part of the design.In the realization stage of the project, four parts is described, which are Fund Investment Management System, Customer Service System, the selection of host computer and storage equipment, the realization of the network. In the stage of realization of FM system and Customer Service System, the third part is the priority, which is the design on transaction. Regarding the selection of host computer and storage equipment, in this Paper, the IBM minicomputer was chosen as the operation platform for core application system, the IBM and HP PC server as the platform for auxiliary system, IBM's disk arrays as storage facilities and RAID0+5; in network, CISCO was selected as hardware supplier and the network was divided into three parts: office network, business network, and website network. The three networks was designed and operated separately.The project described in this Paper started from the 2nd half of 2007, followed by the stage of feasibility study, bidding procurement, installation and testing, the IT system started to operate formally in March of 2008. The company issued its first product in August of 2008 and all the systems run smoothly, that demonstrate the success of the IT construction plan in both designing and implementation.Currently, China's capital market is entering into a booming period. New products emerge rapidly and the IT system also experience innovation in both aspects: business and technology. At present, the IT system of ABC-CA can fully support the trading of equity funds, however, the Company will launch its new products like bond funds, money market funds, balanced funds and LOF funds in the future. Our goal is, while ensure the stable operation of fundamental systems, to meet the new developments of business through the update of software and protect the interests of investors with our best effort. |
