For several decades endeavor, it has got great breakthrough in studying of radial time grating, and that promoted time grating from achievement in laboratory study to market. Compared with the traditional grating sensors, time-grating displacement sensor has some marked advantages such as simple structure and manufacture crafts, strong resistance for interference, low cost and high intelligence, which make it has satisfactory market prospect.The development fied linear time grating has proved that it could be used for measuring line displacement, and it soved the problem of infinite length movement coordinate system.With national natural science foundation supporting, the experience of radial time grating was used for deeper research about linear typed time-grating displacement sensor. This thesis solved several key technologies on improving the precision of linear time grating. The main research contents as follows1. The operation principles of the grating, inductosyn and time grating sensor were analyzed and provided theoretical basis for further research.2. Travelling magnetic field was formed. Firstly, cylinder mechanism was designed for getting uniform spacing. It ensured the uniformity of coil.Secondly, special signal source was provided to fixed length coil. Both of them are the key to forming travelling magnetic field and the theoretical basis of linear time grating.3. The fixed length-guideway and the slide gauge-slider were designed respectively.These mechanisms ensured the parallelism for gauge with fixed length and decreased the Abbe error.4. Pre-point error compensation method and least square method were used for fitting the error. The friendly man-machine interface was designed for receiving the lower computer data by RS-232 serial communication.5. Error come from Abbe principle and temperature in the linear measurement was analyzed,and some methods were used for reducing this error or control it well.In a word, the numerical the linear time grating sensor was researched deeply in this thesis. Several key problems for measuring accuracy were solved. This study laid a foundation for linear time grating sensor comprehensive study. That will promote products and marketization of time grating displacement sensor in the future.
