Distance education is a combination of modern information technology and traditional knowledge database. With the development of science and technology, it is the important domain for distance education of control subject that the remote control experiment, which is one domain of the distance education has wide foreground, it becomes an important tool to combine IT technology with laboratory equipments for the experiment education. Based on the experiment equipment in the center of teaching of automation of the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), integrated with a suit of facility of Rockwell Inc, a remote control system of experiment boiler is set up in the dissertation. Using the control system, students can inspect and control the experiment boiler not only inside the lab, but also outside the lab, and they can do the experiment anytime and anywhere by visiting the internet location. Remote laboratory can also facilitate the sharing of 1aboratory equipment to achieve a small amount of valuables, enhance the level of the experiment teaching consumedly.There is a suit of QXSE LPC-3 experimental equipment in the center of teaching of automation of USTC, Based on it, applying the hardware and software equipment of Rockwell Inc, such as ControlLogix system, RSLogix5000, RSView32, RSLinx and RSNetworx for ControlNet and so on, a system of process control experiment is set up in the dissertation. The modeling and control inside the lab of the system of experiment boiler is realized; and then, applying the OPC and WEB technology, the remote operation of the system of experiment boiler is carried out.By RSLinx, the OPC Server can communicate with the experiment equipment. Using VB, ActiveX control is compiled and packed and the OPC Client can intercommunion with OPC Server in the system. According to the ASP technology, Web server is completed, when the ActiveX control is set in, users can download it and remote operate the system of experiment boiler by common IE browser. It has two purviews: Administrator and users, and users can register, identify status, apply time for doing experiment, record data and display curve and so on, further more, the remote control system of experiment boiler is validated by traditional PID method.
