Information Management is a kind of activity to improve the information usage efficiency and to maximize the value of information, which integrated the methods of technology, economy, policy, law and humanities to take control over the information flow, including non-formal and formal information flow.Shandong Electric Power Engineering Consulting Institute Information Management System is designed to solve the problems that the Information sources are not unified, the departments are divided from each other, the information cannot be shared, and the development of information is not balanced, which is not beneficial to the information exchange among departments. This system aims at improving the level of management and efficiency, accumulating management data, and establishing the data foundation for the enterprise decision-making and development.This paper analyzed the needs of Shandong Electric Power Engineering Consulting Institute on complicated management work, and the details of the demands for information production management information system of the departments and subsidiaries. To satisfy the needs of the system, this paper had done such work as follows.1. On the foundation of detailed needs analysis of each department, this system carried out mass modifying and updating on the Institute and department portal website so as to unify the portals style and make it convenient for the communication among departments.2. This system has established a brand new Approval center, which stores different kinds of reports, applications and sheets in the intranet and allows employees to finish the approval work online in order to save the transmitting time in the approvals. It also has the notifying ways like emails and short messages to avoid missing processes for different unnecessary reasons.3. For the storage job of different kinds of information medium, this system also contains the Document Control Center, which is a document storage center for storing, sharing and publishing office documents and photos.4.To assist the work of the Institute intranet, this system also introduced the Report System, making the statistics and comparison of all kinds of data more directly.This system uses the Browser/Server architecture and the system work can all be finished via the browsers by employees, which established the data foundation for improving the level of management and efficiency, accumulating management data, and the enterprise decision-making and development.In summary, this paper researched in a valuable system and the success of the system will be convenient for the information sharing and management of the Institute.
