Recently years,with the rapid development of internet of everything and the comprehensive application of 5G in the medical,transportation and daily life,the need of data transmission is exploding.ROADM(Reconfigurable Optical Add/Drop Multiplexer)is a new kind technology used in optical communication network to solve the difficulty of large amount of data transmission,and the WSS(Wavelength Selective Switches)is the core components of this optical network.By using WSS,people can deploy any combination of wavelength to any desired port flexibility,doing dense wavelength division multiplexing.In the various kinds of technology path used in WSS,WSS of LCOS(Liquid Crystal On Silicon)type has some specific characteristics,like wavelength independence,direction independence,non-competitive and grid-free,which made it the most popular research direction.But for the complex optical structure and the strict performance demands,the commercial WSS is a monopoly possessing by several foreign companies,such as Finisar and Co Adna,Nowadays,China-US relations is getting worse,this key technology will play a vital role in the field of communication,for which our study have important research significance and practical value.In this paper we designed an optical system by using optical design system ZEMAX optical studio,and analyze the performance theoretically by programming and simulation software MATLAB,we designed the optical path and phase diagram algorithm,the other job we did included:(1)Simply introduce the application scenarios of WSS and introduce the operating principle in detail,also we compare the advantages and disadvantages of different kinds of WSS.(2)The operating principle of the core component LCOS will be introduced in detail,we will analyze how the light propagates in the LCOS.Furthermore,we designed a new light path to calibrate the phase-gray curve in order to fully explore the performance of LCOS.(3)We program the code using MATLAB to simulate how the light field will change after phase modulation,and introduce every component in WSS and their function.(4)We program a man-machine interaction software to deploy the port in WSS,and then test the WSS prototype based on the government standard.This paper will provide a theoretical analyze method and some thinking of design for those who wants to develop application of LCOS or design product about WSS.
