The development of the video coding and network technology make kinds of network video application popular. However, because of the convenience in video data transmission make the security of the video data a very urgent problem to be solved. The most effective and direct method to protect the video security is the video encryption technology. But the real-time video data transmission in networks require the encryption method to be more efficient and robust. This paper analyzes the research work made at home and abroad, and focuses on the video encryption research based on H.264 video coding stand. We make some achievements as follows:(1)We propose an perceptual encryption algorithm which choose the fix-length code such as intra prediction mode, motion vector difference and residual coefficient to be encrypted.we also setup a probabilistic factor to control the strength of the encryption. So we can combine all of the three element s to be encrypted to provide enough security in multiple perception.(2) In the real networks environment, the packet loss caused by the unstable transmission channel may make the decryption process malfunction. So we combine the error resilience and packet encapsulation to propose three encryption schemes for the video transmission on networks. These schemes can encrypt the most important video data first and provide good security and robustness.(3)Because of the vast deposition of the 3G wireless networks, the video application based on 3G develops fast. We make several experiments about the encryption schemes proposed above in the simulated 3G networks. The results indicates our schemes can not only protect the security of the video data, but also improve the visual quality of the video.
