The virtual campus is the concrete application of the virtual reality technology in the digitized campus. Virtual Campus can show the realistic campus, people can surf on net and design the school situation by the virtual campus reality equipment. The three-dimensional virtual university can be built in this foundation, so other corresponding online education can be offered too. Through the virtual campus, people can visit and plan the scene of the real campus on the computer.This paper studies the virtual campus roaming system for the technical issues involved in a more systematically, and under the computer environment, to realize an outdoor system and emphasize interactive virtual real-time roaming BeiJing Institute of Fashion Technology of System by X3D and 3DSMax.This paper mainly studies in the following three aspects of the exploration:1. To construct a realistic virtual three-dimension scene system is the basic work of the entire campus. The paper use 3DS MAX and X3D to construct the virtual campus.2. We must consider the optimization of the scenes, when we create the scenes. Because of the size of the X3D file decided the transmission speed and load it on the Internet browsing speed of the memory. To improve the visiting speed, the system uses a variety of X3D file optimization strategy to achieve the objective of reducing capacity of file.3. This paper is not only realize the basic functions of virtual entity manipulated by using X3D a human-machine interaction mechanisms in the course of roaming, but also realize more powerful interactive function by using VB.NET programming language and Access Database.
