| As an important output equipment, printers are an indispensable part of office automation system. With the development of embedded software and network, printers are becoming more and more intelligent and diverse. From application development perspective of the printer, we can foresee that printers will have the driver installation files and be discovered automatically and automatic driver installation in the next few years.At present network printers are used most widely and achieve printing sharing linked into LAN network. However, drivers must be installed and the process of manual installation is complicated and full of details before using the printer, which brings users a lot of unnecessary trouble. In order to solve the above problems and minimize human intervention, making printers pervasive is an urgent problem to solve.The goal of the thesis is to implement the mechanism of the printers' auto-discovery and to download the driver installation files automatically, and finally to install the driver automatically in a local area network. Throughout the entire process the system is to minimize human intervention and to satisfy the requirements of ubiquitous computing which makes users use the printer more efficiently.The thesis is based on Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 development platform which has developed a pervasive system for printer driver automatic installation. First of all, the system developed a P2P communications protocol to achieve the function of the automatic search of the printer, then to obtain the printer-related information; second, the thesis puts forward a concept of pervasive printer, which has a printer driver installation files and uses HTTP to download the printer-driver; Finally, the system is to determine the format of the configuration file by analyzing the software installation steps and the Windows message responsing mechanism, and then use the configuration file to install the driver automatically.Through the simulation tests, the system can search the printer and install printer driver automatically. The system meets the requirement of pervasive printer and provides a prototype with both practical value and reference value. |
