In the modern society, the requirements of power quality are higher and higher, especially on transient power quality. The problems of power quality disturbances have caused high attention in power industries all over the world. It has significance to manage and improve the power quality through correct detecting, analyzing power quality disturbances and ensuring the location of disturbance sources accurate.A platform of the power quality real-time simulation and a distributed monitoring system is constructed in this paper, which based on the digital dynamic real-time simulation (DDRTS). The real-time simulation of the power quality disturbance is carry out by the electro-magnetic transient simulation software of the platform. Through the high-speed interface device, the simulation results of each node in grid are given to the power quality distributed monitoring system. Using the simulation testing platform can realize the real-time simulation of various power quality disturbances, detect the power quality, validate the analysis method and test the performance of the power quality monitoring device and distributed monitoring system, besides, the platform can provide an cost-effective test environment for the researches of the power quality.On the basis of the analysis to power quality disturbances location, the disturbance source location algorithm is proposed, which bases on the results of the former disturbance. The proposed algorithm makes use of the disturbance direction discriminate results that the location of the disturbance resource relative to the monitoring point, which is given out by the power quality distributed monitoring system. First of all, the monitoring incidence matrix of all monitoring points and the line is set up. And then based on the disturbance direction discriminate result of each monitoring point, the disturbance direction matrix is set up. According to the monitoring incidence matrix and the disturbance direction matrix, a disturbance judging matrix can be obtained, the range of disturbance is determined, and the position of the disturbance source is ensured accurate. The proposed algorithm has many advantages such as non-ambiguous position and simple algorithm.
