Distributed Object computing technology is widely used during the process of the development of the computer software. Comparing with the traditional developing technology, distributed object computing technology is more open and extensible. Object oriented middleware is a well application of distributed object computing technology, the middleware model like: CORBA, COM/DCOM and Java/RMI make the development of the distributed monitoring system much more convenient. For the reason that each model above has its own protocol, it is difficult to achieve the integration among the monitoring systems. Aiming to solve the problem mentioned above, Web Service is a breaking technology, which self-describe and form the data package in XML. It is independent of a specific programming language or platform. This paper discusses the web-based real-time monitoring technology with Web Service technology.Based on the study of several distributed object model and the model integration technology, the design of a Web-Based Electric Power Monitoring System is expatiated. We emphasis on the integration of CORBA and Web Service, as result of which we got a server-side executable file which connects the two different technologies, and make it possible to integrate more systems together. The paper then discusses the real-time and safety aspects of the system, like time stamp and package authentication and present performance test in the VPN environment. Finally, sums up the achievements and puts forward the problematic points to be perfected in this system.
